CUBA BY BICYCLE

Transnico together with Club Nacional de Cicloturismo Gran Caribe, offers a unique opportunity to explore Havana and other Cuban regions by bike.

Gran Caribe, its president Ignacio Villaverde and his young collective of tourist professionals, enthusiastic bike promotors and university students, have since 1993 travelled and cycled thousands of kilometers through Cuba with people from all over the US, Canada, Europe, and made many friends on the way.

This is indeed a unique way to visit the touristic sites of this wonderful island. A direct contact with Cuba's people and nature is the organization's creed. Their years of experience, their dedication and the support of Transnico International guarantee a professional and safe organisation.

The best way to explore the city of Havana is to take a tour on bike with Ignacio and his friends combining the visit of the city's touristic sites with authentic people to people contact. The participants are accompanied by a guide, a technician and other aids that take care of their security by stopping the traffic, watching the bikes while visiting the sites, etc. A standard tour takes half a day going to Vedado, Centro and the Old Havana quarter.

The programs into the interior of the country that we offer vary in degree of difficulty with days of less or more than 50 km, days of rest in between or none, in the mountains or through the fields. The number of participants is in between 12 to 20 with an accompanying person for every 4 participants. The organisation has local bicycles of good quality but participants that prefer their own, can bring it along. Behind the group there is always a technical truck following in case bikes need to be repaired or if somebody is just too tired to continue. The hotels used in the program, are chosen according to the desires of the participant group.

In one week (7 nights) we can offer a bike tour visiting the city of Havana, the valley of Viñales, the region of Trinidad and ending at the beaches of Santa Maria del Mar. The transfers in between the locations are done by bus. On the spots you explore further by bicycle.

In two weeks we can continue until Santiago de Cuba and even discover the magnificent nature around Baracoa.
